For each middle and high school student, it can be a defining moment when they learn the art of the “elevator speech”. An elevator speech is a short and to-the-point way to share a compelling message. Whether they are using this technique to share their story or engage others in a project or activity, creating a vision and a path to better understanding is a powerful tool.
To try this exercise with your students, you can use the mini-lesson shared on our Taste of Lead4Change page. The elevator speech training can be found in the Communication bubble, under “Creating a Clear Message”.
In the Lead4Change lessons, you can find the Elevator Speech activity in the 12-Track, Lesson 8, or the 6-Track, Lesson 4.
Here is a one-minute video on creating an Elevator Speech.
As your students build leadership capacity, being able to clearly convey their message in any setting is a tool they will use for life.
