As schools across the US come back into session, we pause to celebrate and honor history this week.
Monday is a time to understand the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. His leadership defined the movement toward peaceful change, diversity and leadership through activism.
“We are not makers of history. We are made by history.”
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
Challenge your students to reflect on Dr. King’s teaching and leadership.
Wednesday marks Inauguration Day. This will be the 59th celebration of a Presidential Inauguration. Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States of America. In 1961, John F. Kennedy said, at his inauguration,
“Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”
Challenge your students to identify the passion, purpose or problem they want to address with their leadership skills and service mindset.
