Eastern Lebanon County High School, Pennsylvania
High School, 10 students
Advisor: Holly Hartman
Students across the country are stepping up to solve real challenges in their communities. At East Lebanon County High School, a team of students saw a need and took action—demonstrating the power of leadership, creativity, and compassion. Their project, Fit4Change, is a testament to what’s possible when young leaders take charge.
The Need:
Students recognized a pressing need in their community—ensuring families had proper clothing for the winter. Their goal was to collect 500 clothing items to support 50 families and raise $200 for the local homeless shelter.
The Project:
To achieve their mission, students placed collection boxes at 11 locations throughout the community, gathering donated clothing, shoes, and other essentials. They organized a reduced-cost clothing sale at their school, carefully sorting the items into categories for easy shopping. To create a welcoming atmosphere, they added music, offered hot chocolate, and set up a bagging station for purchased items.
The Results:
Surpassing their initial goal, the students collected an incredible 1,600 items and raised $410. They collaborated with local missions and shelters, donating requested items and contributing the funds raised. In recognition of their dedication and impact, Lead4Change awarded them a $1,000 grant, which was donated to their county food pantry and caring closet—providing essential food and living resources to families in need across their district.
