Students across the country are stepping up to solve real challenges in their communities. At Mt. Si High School, a team of students saw a need and took action—demonstrating the power of leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. Their project, Mt. Si High DECA, is a testament to what’s possible when young leaders take charge.
The Need
Understanding that many students face daily hardships, this team set out to provide a sense of support and encouragement through access to basic necessities. Their goal was to create and distribute 50 food and hygiene kits to ensure students had essential supplies readily available.
The Project
They began by reaching out to leadership across local schools to begin the conversation. After finalizing the contents of the kits, the students launched a donation campaign—advertising the effort among their peers and school community. Using both collected donations and purchased supplies, they assembled each kit with care and coordinated distribution through trusted school contacts.
The Result
Surpassing their original goal, the team successfully prepared and donated 200 kits to schools throughout the district. These kits are now available to be distributed as needed to students facing challenges. In recognition of their thoughtful work and strong impact, Lead4Change awarded a $3,500 grant to help them expand the initiative to every school in their district.
